Playlist #4 November 2023
Congrats! You survived Giving Tuesday!
Here is a Christmas Playlist to celebrate. This isn’t just any Christmas playlist, I tried to include covers or remixes of “the classics”. Don’t worry all of the singularly iconic songs are there (Mariah, Donny Hathaway).
Before we jump in, I HIGHLY suggest playing this on shuffle for maximum impact.

I tried to adhere to two general playlist rules of mine - one track per artist and to avoid songs that have talk-y intros. While those can be fun, they can cut the groove down. BUT of course, there always has to be an exception to the rule. There are two Bruce Springsteen songs including “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” which is the definitive talk-y intro Christmas song. But, I get a pass because I’m from New Jersey. There are also two Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings tracks that I absolutely couldn’t choose between. I think you all will forgive me.
I shared a variation of this playlist on my personal socials last year. If you had that playlist - PLEASE NOTE - I have added new songs. Including an absolute banger by early aughts darling Fefe Dobson. And I am sorry, there is a sincere Seth MacFarlane track on here. But it’s of a classic that has a thousand versions and I think this one is new and fun.
Since this is a playlist by me, there IS a dash of melancholy including Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) and Last Christmas. Listen, it’s not the holidays without some sentimentality for a toxic ex. I also can’t not include The Carpenters. There’s a non-Elvis version of Blue Christmas too (it’s been established this is a pro-Wilson Sisters website). And “Come Home for Christmas” by The Eagles which features an album cover which, in my opinion, has the most ideal Christmas-themed set design.
There are some silly, goofy choices as well (only ONE Muppets feature thankyouverymuch). The Carol of the Bells cover is a certified slay if not a little nontraditional. And only one track from The Charlie Brown Christmas album (although there are covers hehe).
The original name of this playlist was “Christmas for Cool People” and I stand by that. Play this for friends, family and coworkers and they’ll be like “wow you really know your shit”. TRUST ME. Ho-ho-ho!
